↪ AN fittings are based on a sizing system that corresponds to the outside diameter (OD) of metal tubing in 1/16-inch increments.↪ AN fittings, short for Army-Navy fittings, are a standardized system of fluid connectors and fittings used primarily in automotive, aerospace, and marine applications.↪ For example, an AN-4 fitting is designed to work with tubing that has a 1/4-inch outer diameter, while an AN-8 fitting is meant for tubing with a 1/2-inch outer diameter.↪ The AN system originated during World War II for military aircraft applications and has since become widely adopted in various industries due to its reliability and compatibility
